A location-aware marketplace built for life on the road.
Roam at Will connects travelers, vanlifers, RVers, and digital nomads with local service providers wherever their journey takes them. Users can discover services by location, plan around their trips, request and manage bookings, message providers, and share reviews — all through one cross-platform experience.
A walk through the product.
Finding reliable local services shouldn't depend on where you are.
Roam at Will was created for a type of customer traditional local-service marketplaces aren't designed around: people who are constantly on the move.
Vanlifers, RVers, digital nomads, and other travelers regularly move between cities and towns, often arriving somewhere without an established network of trusted local professionals. Finding the right service can mean searching across different platforms, comparing unfamiliar providers, and coordinating availability around a changing travel schedule.
The challenge exists on both sides of the marketplace. Travelers need an easier way to discover relevant services around their current or upcoming location, while skilled service providers need a way to reach customers beyond their usual service area.
Roam at Will needed to connect these two sides through a single, location-aware experience — bringing service discovery, trip planning, provider availability, booking, messaging, and reviews together in one marketplace.
The goal wasn't simply to build another local-services directory. It was to create a marketplace that moves with its users.
Building a marketplace that works around the way people travel.
- Supporting two sides of the marketplace. Travelers and service providers have different needs, so we built distinct user experiences for each role — from trip planning and service discovery to provider availability and booking management.
- Making service discovery location-aware. Travelers may need help in a completely new location. We built radius-based search with adjustable distance, Google Places integration, and location-driven provider discovery to make finding relevant services easier wherever the journey leads.
- Connecting trips with provider availability. A traveler's schedule can change from one destination to another. Roam at Will allows travelers to create trips with arrival and departure dates, while providers can define operating hours, recurring availability, and service radius.
- Turning service discovery into a complete booking flow. Finding a provider is only the beginning. We built a structured booking lifecycle covering requests, accept/decline actions, counter-proposals, completion, and cancellation — giving both sides a clear path from discovery to service delivery.
What ships in the product.
Location-based service discovery
Travelers can discover relevant service providers based on their location, with radius-based search starting at 25 miles and adjustable to suit their needs.
Two-sided user experience
Roam at Will supports two primary user types — Travelers and Permanent Businesses — with workflows designed around the different ways each side uses the marketplace.
Trip & availability planning
Travelers can create trips with locations and arrival/departure dates, while businesses can define operating hours, recurring availability, and service radius to make scheduling more flexible.
Category-based discovery
Services are organized through a profession and sub-category structure, helping users narrow their search to the type of expertise they need. Users can also request a new category when their required service isn't available.
Flexible booking flow
Users can send booking requests to providers, while providers can accept or decline requests or suggest an alternative date and time through counter-proposals. Bookings can then move through completion or cancellation.
In-app messaging
Travelers and providers can communicate directly through in-app chat, with conversations connected to bookings or contacts and unread message states for easier follow-up.
Ratings & reviews
Completed service experiences can be followed by feedback, with provider ratings aggregated into profiles and a dedicated view for exploring reviews.
Admin-controlled sponsorships
The marketplace supports sponsor cards managed through the admin platform, allowing promotional content to appear within the service discovery experience with an image, title, and destination link.
Marketplace notifications
Push notifications keep users informed about important activity, including chat messages and feedback-related interactions. Firebase Cloud Messaging supports device-token registration and notification delivery.
